(Version française dans le post plus bas:)

As you may know, in October 2022 a Spanish-speaking Quebec woman lost her life to a lymphoma associated with breast implants very shortly after discovering that there was a Spanish-speaking community on Facebook.

Unfortunately, she never arrived to the French-speaking Quebec and English-Canadian support communities for women suffering from diseases associated to breast implants.

As you can imagine the French Canadian Bii/BIA ALCL community was devastated to learn that she never found our support group. She was living close to us and never found us.

Subsequently, we learned that in the Spanish-speaking Bii/BIA ALCL community in North and South America, there is still a fairly large number of Canadians part of these support groups that may not be aware of the existence of English and French speaking Canadian support groups.

Why are these women not also on the Anglo and Franco Canadian groups? Is it because they find support in these groups that they don't find elsewhere? Probably several of them are unilingual Spanish speaking?

Or they just don’t know that we exist?

And to help us bridge the gap between the Canadian Spanish-speaking community and the Canadian English-speaking community / Canadian French-speaking support community, we now have Ana who is trilingual, who is a member of the three communities and who, from now on, will have the mission of transmitting the information to Spanish-speaking women that we are here, that we exist, that if they speak French or English they can join all our groups and where ever they live Canada we can help them find resources in their respective cities.

And for Canadian women who are unilingual Spanish speaking?

We will help Ana to support these women so that at least they can have access to information. Whether it is to find an explant surgeon in their province or a professional who can help them with a diagnosis of Cancer related to implants.

Thank you Ana for your involvement.

Thank you for ensuring that no one is without resources, if only to exchange with women who live in similar situations.

If ever you need help with a Canadian Spanish speaking woman struggling to find ressources please contact me and Ana. We will work together with all the Bii/BIA ALCL communities to help her out.
